Mother, Wife, Business owner and.....Published Author! How is it possible to accomplish all this? Meet this week\'s guest Carrie Herzner.





Her book, The Business of Beauty - Your Guide to Happiness and Success in the Salon Industry, was published in October 2014. Her memoir, Good Luck Bill, was released October 11th, 2015.

Writing Good Luck Bill was a journey Carrie never dreamed she would embark upon. Having decided twenty years ago to sever all ties to her birth father, it was only after her husband suggested her father’s genetics, and her inheritance of them despite his absence, played a role in failure of their marriage. She was, of course, intrigued by this theory. Through the process of reconnecting with her father Bill, Carrie learned not only is life much more complicated than nature vs nurture, but that our upbringing and the people who influence us from a tender age, can play a role in all of our relationships—personal, career-orientated, and most importantly, in the way we see ourselves and the world around us.

Carrie Herzner is a published writer, focusing on creative non-fiction, memoir and personal essay, with an emphasis on interpersonal relationships and personal growth. Her latest project, Good Luck Bill—A Memoir, was released on October 11th, 2015. Her previous book, The Business of Beauty, was released on October 31st, 2014.

In addition to being a writer, Carrie has been a hairstylist for over twenty years, a career she thoroughly enjoys—and one most certainly “chosen” by her need to nurture and connect with people—a result of the absence of such connections she experienced growing up. Her book, The Business of Beauty, is a guide for cosmetologists that explores the idea that being a stylist goes beyond the ability to “do hair,” and that it’s through communication, and by making authentic connections in our professional life, that we find our passion and purpose, which ultimately leads to success.
