Corporate Talk: Kurt L. Reiber and the Freestore Foodbank

The Freestore Foodbank supplies food, clothing, and supplies to Cincinnati\'s low-income families. We talk with President and CEO Kurt Reiber about the charity and its goal to fight hunger and provide support to those in need.

Kurt Reiber

Kurt Reiber is not a native Cincinnatian but he has called Cincinnati home for over 18 years. Kurt and his wife, Karen, live in Wyoming, where Karen serves as the Media Specialist and Technologist for Wyoming Middle School. They have three grown children who grew up in Cincinnati and attended Turpin High School in Anderson Township.



Kurt is the President and CEO of the Freestore Foodbank. Before coming to the Freestore Foodbank, Kurt was the Senior Vice President of KeyBank and served on the Board of Directors of the Freestore Foodbank from 1996 to 2010, a period of unparalleled growth for that organization. He is the only Board Chair of the Freestore Foodbank to have served for a term of four years where he helped lead a successful capital campaign which saw the renovation and construction of facilities to meet emerging needs in the community. Under his guidance, the Freestore Foodbank has become nationally recognized by Feeding America for its work in capacity development for its community partners and has modernized operations. The Freestore Foodbank has become a premier, respected company in Cincinnati and is a leader in solving difficult community problems.



Kurt s involvement in the community is extensive. He has served on many boards and committees including: Hamilton County Special Olympics, Forest Hills Foundation for Education, Financial Stability Impact Council for the Greater Cincinnati United Way, Ohio Association of Foodbanks and Hamilton County’s Job & Family Services Planning Committee.



Kurt graduated from Baldwin-Wallace College with his BA in Economics & Finance, and received his JD and MBA from the University of Toledo. Kurt is a member of Leadership Cincinnati Class #36 and was recently elected by his peers in the human services community to serve as President of the Human Services Chamber of Hamilton County. He is a very active member of the community and is well-known in charitable organizational environments.
