As a head football coach, Broyles compiled a record of 149–62–6. His mark of 144–58–5 in 19 seasons constitutes the record number of wins by a coach in Arkansas Razorbacks football history. Dean’s quickness, speed, and strength made him one of the league’s most feared pass rushers during his 141-game career. Although the sack did not become an official NFL statistic until 1982, if numbers tallied by the teams were included with his official sack count, Dean’s career sack total would stand near 100.

Fred Dean

Fred Dean emerged as one of the NFL’s premier pass rushers with San Diego and San Francisco after a remarkable college career at Louisiana Tech. The Ruston native was a three-time All-American for the Bulldogs from 1972-74. He was the 33rd player picked in the 1975 NFL Draft. Dean, undersized for a defensive lineman ( 232 pounds), made 94 sacks in his 11 NFL seasons and played on two Super Bowl championship teams with San Francisco. He played in three Pro Bowls (1979-81) and was picked for another in 1983, when he led the NFL with a 49ers record 17 1/2 sacks.

Frank Broyles

John Franklin Broyles (born December 26, 1924) is a former American football player and coach, athletics administrator, and broadcaster. He served as the head football coach at the University of Missouri in 1957 and at the University of Arkansas from 1958 to 1976. Broyles also was Arkansas\' athletic director from 1974 until his retirement on December 31, 2007.[1]

With Arkansas, Broyles won seven Southwest Conference titles and his 1964 team was named a national champion by a number of selectors including the Football Writers Association of America. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1983.
