Bookmark and Share

Our guest today, Karl Krumins was born in NYC to immigrant refugee parents right after World War II. When he dropped out of architecture school to work directly in the building trades he was drafted into the army. Karl writes about himself: “I was and still am influenced by Gurdjieff and the 4th way teachings. Based on those ideas, in conjunction with my experiences, I was moved to start an intentional community – communes as they were called back then – as part of my vision that living together cooperatively was a solution to the dysfunctions of society that I could implement. From that experiment I realized that I didn\'t understand people or know myself, and that I needed help. So I went on a journey which eventually brought me to the Help I needed. That Help triggered my second STE. It also led me to marriage, a family, becoming a carpenter and contractor, and living in a spiritual community.\"
